Create, personalize, and send documents to employees and payees for e-signature. Use it to manage employment agreements, compensation plans, NDAs, and other documents that require a signature as part of your workflow and can be tied to compensation.
Main document screen
Documents are sent through Adobe Sign, which handles the e-signature process. As recipients interact with their documents, statuses update automatically so you can track progress from a single dashboard.

Document group status: Indicates whether the document group is archived or active.
Categories: Add categories to document groups to filter by.
Recipient status: Group-level summary cards showing counts across all recipients in the document group. See Document statuses for descriptions of each card.
Process flow
Organize with document groups: Create a document group to organize related documents together—for example, all documents for a quarterly compensation cycle.
Prepare your template: Create a PDF or DOCX template with placeholder fields where recipient-specific data will be merged. Download the Placeholders PDF from your document group to see the available fields and their syntax. Add the placeholders into your template.
Add a document: Add a document to the group by uploading your template, selecting merge entities, and optionally setting recipient criteria to filter who receives it.
Note
When you upload a new file to an existing document, it creates a new version. Only the latest version is active.
Send for signature: Select recipients and send the document. Each recipient gets a personalized copy with their data merged into the placeholders, delivered through Adobe Sign.
Track and manage: Monitor recipient statuses as they sign, decline, or let documents expire. Download signed copies for your records.
Compensation eligibility
A recipient's document signing status can be used as a quantifier in compensation plan calculations. For example, you can configure a compensation component to require a Signed status before a payee becomes eligible, linking the document signing workflow directly to compensation eligibility.
Document groups
A container that organizes related documents. For example, group all documents for a specific compensation cycle or team.
Document placeholders
Fields in your template that are automatically replaced with recipient-specific data when the document is sent. Use the {{!section.fieldName}} syntax.
Document statuses
The main Documents screen shows group-level status cards that summarize the signing state across all recipients in each document group.
Status card | Description |
|---|---|
Fully Executed | Count of recipients whose documents have been signed by all required parties. |
Approved | Count of recipients whose documents have completed the approver workflow and are cleared to proceed to signing. |
Out for Signature | Count of recipients whose documents have been sent and are currently awaiting a signature. |
Needs an Action | Count of recipients whose documents require attention — for example, a declined, failed, or expired document, or a document waiting on approver action. |
Note
Per-recipient statuses (Unsent, Sent, Viewed, Signed, Declined, Failed) are visible when you open a document group and view the Document Recipients grid. For a full description of each status, see Manage documents.
