When you create a new coverage assignment there are several coverage types you can select to meet your coverage needs:
Normal assignment type to assign an employee permanently to a territory or team.
Temporary assignment type to assign an employee to a territory or team for a fixed, non-permanent period of time. For example, assign an employee to cover a territory while another employee is on leave.
Temporary assignment placeholders (TBx) for future staffing changes like new hires, replacements, or transfers.

Add a territory or team assignment
Create a coverage assignment for either a territory or a team:
Territory coverage: Designate territories with accounts and then assign people to roles that cover those territories. When exported, territory coverage assignments get written to the account team in Salesforce.
Team coverage: assign people to roles which creates a reporting structure that is visually represented in the org chart within your team hierarchy. Team coverage assignments for managers is critical in team-based target settings. Designating a person as a manager of a team allows you to accurately roll up their team’s targets to them.
The process for both is similar, with a few differences in the available fields.
