A title is what a person holds right now, such as Senior Enterprise AE, tracked as an effective-dated value that can drive a person's quota, ramp, and commissions, independently of the territories they cover. Titles are optional; use this page to find the right task article.
The Titles catalog
Define your titles once for the tenant in Settings > Titles. The map below shows the parts of the catalog.

Search: Filters the list of titles as you type.
Plan selector: Filter the titles to only those associated with a given plan.
Show retired: Check to show both active and retired titles.
Add title / Import: Create a title, or import a catalogue from CSV.
Title: The name of the title, such as Senior Enterprise AE.
Status: Whether the title is active or retired.
What a title is
Define a title once for your tenant, a level such as Enterprise AE or Senior Customer Success Manager, then assign it to a person with effective dates. A title describes who a person is, rather than what they cover; coverage stays with their role.
Title history is effective-dated. When someone's title changes, Fullcast end-dates the previous title and starts the new one on the change date, so you can always see which title a person held on any given day. A person holds one active title at a time.
What titles drive
Once you assign titles, they feed several parts of Fullcast:
Targets by title. Assign a target to a person's title, so their quota reflects the title and tenure they hold in each period.
Accurate mid-period changes. When someone is promoted partway through a period, Fullcast can split their target into sub-targets at the transition date, each with its own line, so commissions pay each stretch against the right plan.
Ramp that follows the person. A ramp profile can attach to a person's title instead of their role on a territory, so ramp follows a promotion rather than the coverage map.
Team targets that apply by title. A target created at the team level with title-based assignment applies only to people in the matching titles; managers and support roles on the same team are skipped.
Comp plan routing. Commissions can select payees by title, and crediting rules can credit and split by title as well as by role.
Where titles appear
Once titles exist, they show up across Fullcast — this is where you associate titles with roles and see who holds what.
In the Roles module, the Roles and titles page lists each role; expand a role to see the titles associated with it.

Open a role and go to the Titles tab to manage which titles belong to it. A title must be added to a role before anyone in that role can be assigned it.

In Teams > Manage Organization, the Employees table shows each person's current Fullcast title in its own column.

Click a person's name to open People Details. The Titles tab shows their current title and ramp, plus full title history.

Current title: the title the person holds today.
Ramp: the ramp attached to the current title.
Title history: the effective-dated record of past titles.
Do you need titles?
Titles are optional. If your team uses Fullcast for coverage and accountability, who covers which territory, crediting splits, permissions, and CRM account teams, roles alone are enough, and you do not need to configure titles.
Consider titles when quota, ramp, or commissions depend on a person's title or tenure rather than the territories they cover, for example when people are promoted mid-period and commissions must pay against the correct quota and comp plan, or when quotas differ by title.
Crediting splits are not limited to roles: a crediting rule's payee criteria can select and split by title as well as by role.
If you have not configured any titles, nothing changes: title columns and tabs do not appear, and your targets and ramp continue to work from roles exactly as before.
For a side-by-side comparison of the two concepts, see Roles and titles: when to use each.
Where to go next
Adopt titles in this order:
Define your catalogue of titles in Settings > Titles (import a CSV for a large catalogue).
Associate each title with its plans - add it to a role in the plan, or people there cannot be assigned it.
Assign titles to people - individually on People Detail, or in bulk from the Employees table.
Create title-based targets - assign the target to a role and turn on Split targets by title.
If you use Fullcast Pay, route comp plans and crediting by title.
