Assign a title to record the title a person holds and when it started. Then, change or end it as they are promoted, move, or leave. A person holds only one active title at a time, so assigning a new title automatically ends the one they held before.
Before you begin
The title must already exist in the tenant-wide catalogue.
The title must be associated with a role in the plan. If you try to add a title title for a person but the title has not been associated with a role, you will receive an error message: "This title is not part of this plan." See Add a title to a role.
Titles have the following constraints:
One active title at a time. Overlapping titles are rejected.
No interior gaps. If a change would leave a gap, Fullcast prompts you to confirm before it extends the prior title forward until the next one begins.
Be aware of the downstream impacts of title changes, see What happens to targets and ramp.
Assign or change a single title
Go to Teams > Team organization.
In the Employees table, click the person's name to open their People Detail view.
Click the Titles tab.
Select the appropriate option:
Add a new title - starts it and automatically end-dates the current one. Use this for a first assignment, a promotion, or any title change.
End-date the current title - stops it with no successor; the person is then left with no active title.
Edit an existing title entry - correct the facts (title, dates) without moving the rest of the timeline.
Set the start date, the effective date. The current title is end-dated to the day before automatically.
Review the target and ramp prompts (see What happens to targets and ramp), then Save.
Assign or change titles in bulk
To assign or change titles for many people at once, import them from the Employees table in the Team plan.
Note
To change a person's current title via import, that title must already have an end date. If it is open-ended, the upload cannot tell what you intend and fails.
You can end a current title and assign a new title in the same upload. Just create a row with the current title ID, leave start date blank, and input the end date. Then create another row for the new title.
Each person's uploaded date range must be consecutive and non-overlapping with their current title.
Prepare the CSV for upload
To change titles in bulk you will need to prepare a CSV containing four columns: People ID, Title ID, Start date, and End date.
Get People IDs: use the Salesforce user ID or the Fullcast “System ID”. These can both be retrieved in Fullcast by navigating to Teams > Team Organization. At the top of the Employees table, click the button to Export all data.
Get Title IDs: This can be retrieved in Fullcast by navigating to Settings > Titles > Download CSV.
Create a CSV with four columns in this order: People ID, Title ID, Start date, and End date.
Enter dates as YYYY-MM-DD
Import titles
Go to Teams > Team organization.
In the Employees table, open the three-dot (⋮) menu, select Import Titles.
Select your prepared CSV.
In Identify people by, choose how your sheet names people: People ID, Salesforce ID, or Employee ID.
Upload the file and check the column mapping in the match step.
Review the preview, which shows whether each row adds, moves, or ends a title, then confirm the import.
After the import, you can validate by bringing the field Fullcast Title into the Employees table. You can also go to Settings > Audit Logs to see a summary of the changes.
What happens to targets and ramp
Changing a title has downstream effects. Review these before you change titles:
Targets split by title. With Split targets by title on, a mid-period title change splits the target into one row per title period, with quota allocated pro-rata by days. The split is committed automatically; you are notified rather than asked to approve. For how sub-targets behave, see Understand sub-targets from a title change.
Ramp is removed from affected targets. Any title change removes ramp profiles from the target and its child targets, behind a confirmation dialog.
Settled commissions are not recomputed. Commissions that have already been processed are never recalculated automatically; that stays a manual step.
Provide the effective date when prompted.
When a title change affects existing targets, Fullcast asks for an effective date. Declining the prompt can affect those targets, so provide a date rather than skipping the prompt.
