How ramp works with titles

Prev Next

When you use titles, a person's ramp can follow their title instead of the role they hold on each territory. The ramp lives on the person, so it moves with them as their title changes, and each target draws ramp from a single source — the title or the role.

Where a title's ramp comes from

Each title can carry a default ramp profile, set when you create or manage the title. A person who holds that title inherits its default ramp unless you override it for that person.

  • Inherited ramp appears in a muted, dashed style; an explicit choice is marked with an override chip.

  • You can reset an overridden ramp back to the title or org default at any time.

  • No ramp is a valid choice, use it for titles that should not ramp.

A summary banner counts how many people inherit the default versus override it, with a shortcut to change the default.

Ramp follows the person, not the territory

Ramp used to attach to a role on a coverage assignment, so it was tied to the territory a person covered. With titles, the resolved ramp lives on the person's title record instead. Because it is stored per person, the same title can carry different ramp for different people, for example, a new hire and an internal transfer in the same title can ramp on different schedules.

How a target chooses its ramp source

Each target reads ramp from exactly one source, a title or a role. The choice matters only when both are configured:

  • If only one is configured, the target uses it automatically.

  • If both a title ramp and a role ramp apply, a picker appears and defaults to the title.

  • Changing the source applies forward only. Past attainment is not recomputed.
