Configure Reporting in the Balancer Tab

The Balancer report is a GTM report that lives right in your territory plan. It is intended to be a quick reference to get a pulse on territory balance to use while carving or managing territories.

Configure the balancer report

  1. From the plan home screen, click Balance Territories. Or, from within a plan, click on the Balancer tab.

    1. In the Chart Title field, type a unique name for the chart.

      Note

      If you don’t provide a name, the chart will populate a name based on selected dimensions and measures.

    2. Configure the following fields:

      Dimension

      Dimensions define the x-axis of a chart report type or a column for the tabular report type.

      1. From the Entities menu on the left, search for a dimension.

      2. Drag and drop the dimension to the Dimension field.

        Note

        You can plot a maximum of two dimensions against a single measure, but you have change the measure type to a stack or tree map.

      X Axis Caption (optional)

      The label that displays for the x-axis data.

      1. Type a descriptive caption for the x-axis data.

      Y Axis Caption (optional)

      Optional. The label that displays for the primary y-axis data on left of the chart.

      1. Type a descriptive caption for the y-axis data.

      Limit (default is 1000)

      Change the range of data that displays for the report.

      1. Type the range of data you want to display on the report.

      Measures

      Measures define the y-axis of a chart report type or columns for the tabular report type that a dimension is plotted against.

      1. From the Entities menu on the left, search for measures.

      2. Drag and drop measures to the Measures field.

      3. Optional. Customize the measures.

        Note

        You can plot a single dimension against a maximum of five measures.

      Timeline (optional)

      Period of time you want to view the data against.

      1. From the Entities menu on the left, search for time based measures.

      2. Drag and drop measures to the Timeline field.

      Filters (optional)

      Add criteria to customize the filters for the data.

      1. From the Entities menu on the left, search for dimensions and measures.

      2. Drag and drop dimensions and measures to the Filters field.

      3. In the Operator field, select the condition to filter the data by.

      4. In the Value field, add the value to filter the data by.

    3. Click Plot.

Review the balancer report

  1. Chart view of selected data: Click in the territory hierarchy to change the selected data level.

  2. Chart Legend: Shows the color coding and corresponding metrics.

  3. Level Selector: Allows you to view data on either the Selected Level, Next Level Only, or All Child Levels.

  4. Tabular View: Click here to view a table with the balancer data.

  5. Edit Chart: Click here to edit the chart configuration

  6. Download Chart: Click here to download an image of the chart.

Understanding the Balancer table

The balancer table presents the same data as in the chart but in a tabular view.

  • A list of territories within the selected parent territory.

  • The metrics used for balancing are displayed as individual columns.

  • A "balance by" column, showing the balance achieved for each territory according to each metric.

  • The standard deviation indicates the degree of variation in the data.
