The map chart displays the performance of territories based on selected metrics. Hover over the territory to see the values of your selected metric.

## Design a map chart

1. [Create a report](/v1/docs/create-a-report).

****Measures****

Measures define a metric on the map.

  1. From the **Entities**menu on the left, search for measures.
  2. Drag and drop measures to the **Measures**field.
  3. Optional. [Customize the measures](/v1/docs/customize-measures-for-a-report).

Select the level you want to view the metrics on based on the country you selected (for the United States, select country, state, or postal code level).

  1. From **Level** dropdown, select the level based on the country you selected.
  2. Optional. Select the checkbox for **Lock level**to lock the heatmap’s level to the level you selected (if the selected level is state, the user cannot zoom into other levels that are the 2-code postal codes or 5-code postal codes).

****Filters** (optional)**

Add criteria to customize the filters for the data:

  1. From the **Entities**menu on the left, search for dimensions and measures.
  2. Drag and drop dimensions and measures to the **Filters**field.
  3. In the **Operator**field, select the condition to filter the data by.
  4. In the **Value**field, add the value to filter the data by.
5. Click **Plot**.
