# Manage ramp profiles

Ramp profiles reflect the time it takes for a person or territory to achieve full productivity and are built on a role-by-role basis. They apply to territory coverage assignments, targets, and capacity planning (scenarios). For example, when you set a person-level target in the teams module like a quota, apply a pre-configured ramp profile as a target adjustment to automatically adjust the person’s target based on that ramp profile.

## Create a ramp profile

1. Go to **Roles > Manage Roles**.
2. Find the role you want to add a ramp profile to.
3. Click the **menu ⋮ > Edit**.
4. Go to the **Ramp Profiles** tab.
5. Click **Add**.
6. Complete the following fields:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Type** | The type corresponds with the territory [coverage assignment](/v1/docs/create-assignment-coverage) type. From the dropdown select one of the following: - **New Hire:**TBH placeholder coverage assignments. - **Normal:** Normal coverage assignments - **No Coverage:**Accounts for business generated through channels that are not directly managed by a coverage assignment (organic inbound, partner-led sales, when building sales targets on unassigned territories). - **Replace:**TBR placeholder coverage assignments. - **Temp:**Temporary coverage assignments. - **Transfer:**TBT placeholder coverage assignments. |
| **Name** | Type a name for the ramp profile that will be referenced. |
| **Start Date Field** | From the dropdown, select the field which determines the ramp profile start date. The default is **Assignment Start Date** (the territory coverage assignment start date). |
| **Cut-Off Date** | From the dropdown, select the date when the ramp starts in the month: - **Last Day of the Month:**Calculates from the last day of the month. - **Prorated:**Calculates the first month based on the start date and prorates the ramp for days worked. - Specific day of the month: Calculates from the selected day of the month. For example, if you select 15 and the person’s start date is July 16, the first month of their ramp is August. |
| **Ramp Profile** | Displays the ramp period on a month-by-month basis. Each month is allocated a percentage that indicates expected productivity. To configure the **Ramp Profile**: 1. From the **Actions** column, click **edit** ![](https://cdn.document360.io/369efcf7-66f9-4f6b-9d45-9ca24a5b06cf/Images/Documentation/image(401).png). 2. In the **Ramp Profile** window, click **New Month** to add a month, add as many months as needed. The number of months determines the length of time for the ramp profile. 3. In each month field, type the percentage of productivity expected for that month. The final month must be 100%. 4. Click **Confirm**. ![Example of ramp set over 3 months increasing 30% to 100%.](https://cdn.document360.io/369efcf7-66f9-4f6b-9d45-9ca24a5b06cf/Images/Documentation/image(402).png) |
