# Edit or delete coverage assignments

Edit coverage assignments that require minor updates or delete coverage assignments that are no longer needed.

## Edit a coverage assignment

Edit the details of a coverage assignment, refer to the appropriate processes to [change an employee role](/v1/docs/change-an-employee-role) or [confirm a new hire](/v1/docs/confirm-new-hire-for-tbh-placeholder).

> 
> If you are working in an plan that exports and the assignment's **Start Date** is today or earlier, you should assume the assignment has already been exported to the CRM. Modifying an active coverage assignments that has already been exported to the**Account Team** object in the CRM may cause inconsistencies.
> 
> - **For exported assignments:** Only edit the **End Date**.****Never edit the assignment to change the person. Instead, [end the current coverage](/v1/docs/end-coverage-for-an-employee) and create a new assignment for a new person.
> - **For non-exported assignments:** Assignments that have not been exported can be updated as needed including changing the assignee.

1. Go to the appropriate module (**Territories**, **Teams**,****or**Products**)**> Manage Coverage**.
2. Find the assignment you want to edit.
3. Click the **menu ⋮** and select **Edit**.

4. Update the fields as needed.
5. Click **Next**.
6. Review the **Ramp Assumptions**.
7. Click **Save**.

## Delete a coverage assignment

Delete a coverage assignment that has not been exported and is no longer needed.

> Note
> 
> If a coverage assignment has exported, the option to delete the assignment is not available to prevent orphaned account teams in the CRM.

1. Go to the appropriate module (**Territories**, **Teams**,****or**Products**)**> Manage Coverage**.
2. Find the assignment you want to delete.
3. Click the **menu ⋮** and select **Delete**.

4. In the confirmation window, type `DELETE`.
5. Click **Confirm**.
