# Create a standalone report

Create a standalone report that is independent from a dashboard.

## Create a report from Reports

Standalone reports that you create from **Reports**are automatically saved.

1. Go to **Reports**.

2. Click **New > Report**.

3. Complete the following fields:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Name** | Type a unique name for the report. |
| **Data Source** | From the dropdown, select the core object to build your reports from. > [!NOTE] > Note > > Once you create the dashboard, you cannot change the data source. |
| **Folder** | Select the folder where you want to save your report. |
| **Categories** | Optional. From the dropdown, select existing categories or type in new categories and press `Enter`. |
| **Description** | Optional. Type a description of the dashboard. |
4. Click **Save & Continue**.
5. Use the [chart designer](/v1/docs/select-a-chart-to-design#select-a-chart-to-design) to configure the report.
6. Click **Plot.**
