# Adjust a target

A manual adjustment increases or decreases a target's value for specific nodes without changing the underlying goal or schedule — for example, applying an uplift or downlift for one rep.

## Before you begin

- If the target is a timeseries target, [apply a schedule](/plan-and-pay/docs/apply-a-schedule) first.

## Adjust a target manually

1. Go to the appropriate module (**Territories** | **Teams** | **Product**) > **Manage Targets**.
2. From the list of targets, click on the target you want to adjust.

### Open **Edit Target Details**

**For multiple nodes:**

1. Click **Actions** > **Edit target details** to open the editor.
2. Select the checkbox for the node you want to adjust.
3. Toggle on **Adjustments & Ramp Profiles** to enable changes in that section.

**For a single node:**

1. Find the person or territory row you want to adjust.
2. Click the ⋮ menu.
3. Click **Edit Target Details**.

1. In the **Adjustments & Ramp Profiles** section, click **Add Adjustment**.
2. Select **Manual Adjustment**.
3. Optional: Click the pencil icon next to **Manual Adjustment** to rename it — for example, Uplift.

4. Click the ⋮ menu on the adjustment table to change the entry basis to **Monthly**, **Quarterly**, or **Annual**.

5. Based on the time increment you've selected, click in the relevant boxes and type the adjusted value as a percentage or a dollar amount.
6. Click **Save**.

## How percentage adjustments work

If you adjust by percentage, the original target value equals 100 percent for each month. For example, for an annual target with a goal of $1,200,000, the **Total** box prepopulates with 1200, representing the sum of each month's 100 percent. Enter a value above 1200 to increase the target, or below 1200 to decrease it.

## End a target by zeroing out remaining months

When someone leaves a role and you want to stop crediting further progress on their target without deleting its history, add a manual adjustment that zeroes out the remaining months instead of deleting the target. To permanently remove a target and its history, [delete the target](/plan-and-pay/docs/delete-a-target-v2) instead.

1. Follow steps 1 through 8 above to open **Edit Target Details** for the target and add a **Manual Adjustment** set to a **Monthly** entry basis.
2. Click the pencil icon next to **Manual Adjustment** and rename it to describe the change — for example, Ending the Target.
3. For each remaining month, enter 0.
4. Click **Next**.
5. Optional: Set an effective date for the change.
6. In the confirmation dialog, type **OVERWRITE**.
7. Click **Confirm**.
