Now that you are familiar with the *Go-to-Market Segmentation Panel, l*et's turn our attention to the 3-dot Segmentation Menu, the go-to spot for creating, editing, and managing your go-to-market hierarchy rules.

*Note: We’re in he process of transitioning to a new UI and will refresh this video soon! In the meantime, you may refer to*[*the release notes*](/v1/docs/platform-release-notes)*for a rundown of the primary differences in the current and previous UI.*

The first step to creating your GTM in Fullcast is to start building your go-to-market segmentation.

When creating a territory, you have two important options: 'Add Node' and 'Add Hierarchy.' But what is the difference between adding a node and adding a hierarchy?

## Add Hierarchy

Selecting “Add Hierarchy” indicates that you will be using a rule to create multiple territories. At any given level of your hierarchy you can only use “add hierarchy” one time.

## Add Node

Selecting Add Node means you will be carving an individual, standalone territory. This territory will follow unique rules distinct from other territories at the same level.

## Example: Add Hierarchy vs. Add Node

Let’s say I wanted to carve NAMER into three segments: Enterprise, Mid-market, and SMB, using an employee count field. To do this, I select “Add Hierarchy” and can then use a bucket rule to input the employee count thresholds for each of those segments.

But let’s say I also want to keep Government accounts separate from those company size based territories. Do do this, I would select “Add Node” to create the Government segment.

> [!TIP]
> **Pro Tip:** As you embark on your journey of territory carving, remember this: when unsure, opt to “'Add Hierarchy.”
