# Add a TBx placeholder role to a team target

When you configure person-level targets in the Teams module, you may need to set a target for a position that hasn't been filled yet. Add a TBx placeholder role directly from the target management screen to set a target value for a planned hire (TBH), transfer (TBT), or replacement (TBR) without creating the coverage assignment first. When you add the TBx role, the system automatically creates the corresponding TBx placeholder record.

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> You can only create a TBx placeholder on a target for a child node that includes [person level targets](/plan-and-pay/docs/configure-a-scalar-target-v2).

1. Go to **Teams > Manage Team Targets**.
2. From the node menu select the child node for the target you want to add the placeholder to.
3. Find the target you want to add the placeholder to.
4. Click the **menu ⋮ > Target Details**.
5. From the **Targets**section, click **Actions > Add TBx Role**.
6. From the dropdown, select an existing placeholder role or create a new role.
7. Next to **(%)** or **(value)**, click **Edit**and type the target values for the placeholder.
8. Click **Confirm**. The system creates or adds a TBx placeholder and adds it to the target grid.

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> If auto recalculation is enabled on the target, the TBx placeholder triggers automatic recalculation of dependent formula targets.

**To be placeholder:** For TBH (to be hired), TBR (to be replaced), and TBT (to be transferred).

**To be hired:**A placeholder for a future employee. It represents a planned new position within your organization. This placeholder helps forecast increased lead generation, allocate resources for onboarding and training, set realistic sales targets, and determine the necessary infrastructure for the new hire.

**To be transferred:** An existing employee who is schedule to move into the seat from a different team or department within the organization. This placeholder helps determine replacement timelines, assess client impact, plan for hiring, and ensure smooth client transitions.

**To be replaced:** An existing employee who is transitioning to a new role within the organization. While they are moving internally, their current position will need to be field.
