How to rerun rules?
When designing a Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy, one can create hierarchies either using a rules-based engine or based on geography. When using the rules-based engine to create territories, it's necessary to rerun the rules set on the hierarchy node whenever there's new or updated data.
Currently, rerunning rules are supported at both the child-node and parent-node levels. This allows for flexibility in updating territories without affecting other nodes in the hierarchy. Rerunning rules at the child or leaf node level enables precise adjustments while executing them at the parent node level updates all children nodes under a parent to reflect the updated data.
Manual Rerunning of Rules:
- Select the hierarchy node for which rerunning rules is required.
- Click on the Hierarchy Operations Menu and choose the Rerun Rules option.
- If rerunning rules are specific to named accounts or exceptions, select the appropriate option. Otherwise, choose Both and confirm.
- The new data from the Unassigned Node will now be allocated to the correct territories based on the predefined rules.
The option to Rerun Rules will not appear in the Hierarchy Operations Menu if rules are not created within the hierarchy. This situation arises if there are any custom nodes created in the hierarchy.
Automatic Re-running of Rules:
During onboarding, your business partner will assist in setting up an automatic rerun schedule for the GTM hierarchy. For instance, if it's necessary to run the account hierarchy rules whenever new data is updated in the system, an automatic rerun schedule can be established to streamline this process.
